Then yesterday, Shihan said that one of my Jiu-Jitsu dojobros...one who has been there for me since my first day, one who makes me laugh, and who always makes me feel included...plans to stay at the dojo. This doesn't change my decision (since it was based on what would be best for my training), but it does make me sad. I will miss him, as well as anyone else who stays.
On the other hand, it also makes me happy. It means that the Jiu-Jitsu program at the dojo will definitely go on, and if this person ends up being the head instructor, I believe he has what it takes to do a great job. I haven't actually confirmed this with the person in question, and I will not reveal his identity without knowing for certain (so don't ask me! ;).
Right now the Jiu-Jitsu class at the dojo might seem like a house divided, and I still don't know what everyone's final decision will be, but I do know that none of us are "taking sides". No matter where we end up training, we will always be brothers and sisters, brought together and sustained by our love for Jiu-Jitsu.
