At our school they don't really tell you what the notions for training mean, I guess it's up to you figure it out for yourself. Most of them seem pretty self-explanatory, but some are a little more obscure. One of them in particular intrigues me "Live a plain life".
Google defines plain:
Adjective: Not decorated or elaborate; simple or ordinary in character.
Adverb: Clearly; unequivocally (used for emphasis).
Noun: A large area of flat land with few trees.
I think I live a fairly plain life. I live in a plain house on a plain street in a plains state. I drive a plain vehicle, I wear plain clothes, and I have plain tastes. My husband knows better than to buy me fancy jewelry, because I won't wear it. I don't even wear my wedding rings all of the time, I prefer to be unadorned. I also try to be plain in my words and deeds. Even when I write about complicated things, I usually try to make them plain.
Being plain makes life a little easier, because there's less interference in dealing with what really matters. While it may seem boring to some, plain is actually a liberating way to live.
