In my post yesterday I said that I couldn't remember where I learned to do The Cinnamon Roll, so I guessed it was from a video. However, I was thinking about it some more, and I DO have a faint, fuzzy memory of doing it before, so I asked Conan about it...
G: Hey Bronan, did you teach me that wicked awesome move?
C: Well of course I did. I have taught you every wicked awesome thing you know.
(Okay, he didn't really say that, but I suspect he thinks it.)
It was probably one of those things that when I learned it, I dismissed it as something that was too difficult, and I didn't think I would be able use it. It's pretty funny that although I put no effort into learning it (which is why I can't remember practicing it), somehow it still sunk in.
I tried to find a video of it, but I wasn't sure what to search for (I didn't have any luck with Swiss Cake Roll, either!). This is the closest I could find (although I did it much smoother than the dude in this video ;). It's not exactly kesa gatame, but it's close enough to get the idea. He also rolls straight back, but I rolled onto my shoulder, so I ended up on top right away.
