This is Halloween

"Boys and girls of every age, wouldn't you like to see something strange?"

I'm super excited for Halloween! I dress up every year, even if I don't have a party or anything to go to. It's the one day of the year where I can be as weird as I want, and no one cares. I get some strange looks when I wear my tennis shoes with rainbow shoelaces on any other day, but on Halloween no one even notices! Costumes + Candy = The best holiday ever.

My daughter has also inherited my love for all things Halloween, and she's taken costuming to a whole new level by being involved in Cosplay throughout the year. For those who don't know, that's when people dress up as Anime/Video Game/Movie characters and attend conventions. She even taught herself how to sew so she could make her own costumes.

In the book Dorothy had silver slippers, not ruby

Skyler has a collection of wigs from various anime outfits, and we like to wear them to mess with our family and friends. A few weeks ago we both wore wigs to women's Jiu-Jitsu class, and we also switched gis, to confuse Amy (which totally worked!). Last year for Halloween I dressed up as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, and Skyler has a short red wig that matches my hair, so she decided to dress up as "gender-bending Dorothy". We have so much fun with it!

This year is going to be extra special, because we're having a small party at the dojo for our Karate kids, and I have the perfect costume in the works. I'm keeping it a surprise, but I think the kids are going to love it...I know I do!
