If you've listened to the music on some of my competition videos, you may have noticed that I have a thing for the Beastie Boys. It's a sickness, I know, I can't even explain it. I was a girl of merely sixteen when Licensed to Ill came out, and they just seemed to speak to me. I really felt like I DID have to fight for my right to party!
As I grew up, so did they, and their music has always remained a source of happiness for me. Over the past two and a half decades they have consistently released quality music; often varying in style and subject matter, but always undoubtedly Beastie. I own ten Beastie Boys cds, and I even have Licensed to Ill on vinyl and Hello Nasty on cassette (old school, baby!). I rarely go all fangirl over anything, but I ♥ my boys (even if they are old men now ;).
I am a music fanatic, so I like my videos to have soundtracks. I have a wide variety of musical tastes, but YouTube denies many of my musical selections and so I've used a lot of Beastie. It looks like that may be ending soon though, because they have started systematically shutting down my videos with The Boys' music, requiring me to swap the audio. Come on, YouTube, don't make me start recording my own covers of Beastie songs. I know all the words, but I can't rap all three parts by myself!"When it comes to beats, well I'm a fiend, I like my sugar with coffee and cream.
Well, I gotta keep it going, keep it going full steam, too sweet to be sour, too nice to be mean.
Well on the tough guy style, I'm not too keen. Try to change the world I'ma plot and scheme."
