So, I asked my big bro Ken Haddix to do an exhibition match with me (after he was already tired from his own matches, I'm not stupid!). It was a lot of fun, and he was sufficiently exhausted enough that I managed to pull off the win. Not by ippon, though, stubborn bastard. Best of all, I never once got a warning or penalty for breaking any rules! I can't say the same for my opponent, or my Judo mentor, Amy. He was warned for illegal entry into mat work, and she got in trouble for grabbing legs. Haha! I have to give them a hard time, because they are Judoka, and should know better.
It was a good day, despite the 115+ heat index and no AC! I wasn't as nervous as usual, maybe because I was too hot to care, or maybe because the crowd was small and Donna promised she would make everyone close their eyes when I fought. She lied, but I'm still glad I competed. I've always wondered what it would feel like to put on a gi and do Judo on the surface of the sun! Now I can cross that off my bucket list.
