Being able to remember what things are called seems to help me remember the details better. It's like I can't do something if it doesn't have a name. Yet for some reason, I have a really hard time remembering the names of jiu-jitsu techniques. Now that I definitely know which one it is, it was pretty easy to add "anaconda" to the brain bank, but it's a little harder to process "when-you-have-their-arm-and-their-head-from-the-front-but-it's-not-like-an-arm-triangle-more-like-an-arm-in-guillotine thingy".
I can't even learn the techniques or their names from videos, because I'm the kind of person who has to physically do something for it to sink in. I can see something on a video and remember it for a short amount of time, but unless I actually practice it (multiple times) I will soon forget it. That is really why when I figured out which choke was which yesterday, I came home and showed them to my husband. Now I don't really think I will ever forget them again. Of course, now neither will he. Great. I really need to stop teaching him jiu-jitsu, because I know he's just going to use it against me.

"What's in a name?
That which we call a darce
By any other name
would still choke you."
