It's my own fault. I ate a greasy cheeseburger about half an hour before class started because I forgot that this class was going to be dedicated to helping me get ready for competition, which translates to "make Gina work until she cries", or in this case, "vomits". I stood in the middle of the mat and took on competitor after competitor non-stop. We started with 30 seconds to take down and submit, and worked up to five minute matches. I think I made it about 20 minutes straight before the aforementioned spewing. Then I came out of the bathroom and went back to work.
It was actually a lot of fun! However, my takedowns have me a little worried when it comes to the fact that I will soon be competing in Judo. I got a lot of them, but mostly by grabbing legs, which is no longer allowed in Judo. Amy had to put the stipulation on me that I could do no more double or single legs, only sweeps and throws. I was able to pull a few off after that, so hopefully I will be alright for the Judo match. I think part of the problem yesterday was that we were working no gi. It's a lot easier to throw someone who's wearing a gi, and I'm more used to that.In a couple weeks Amy is going to dedicate class to specifically helping me get ready for the Judo tournament, so that should help a lot. She is worried (as am I) that I will get disqualified, so we are going to work hard on having me remember the rules when I am tired and stressed. Which means, of course, working me until I cry. Remind me to not eat anything before class that day.
